Linnaea’s offers a large assortment of hand crafted espresso drinks for your enjoyment whether you choose to sit in the front window, the dining room or the garden sipping from a smooth Italian ceramic cup, or to take it with you in a compostable paper cup.
There are all the usual choices available: Espresso, Mochas (made with organic fair trade chocolate), Flavored Lattes, Cappuccinos, White Chocolate Mochas…all of them available hot or iced.
We also offer some unique choices. Try the Mexicano; a mocha with cinnamon and almond added to it. Or a Caramel Latte using Caramel made in our kitchen from caramelized sugar, real cream and butter. Or an Organic Vanilla Latte, everything organic, the espresso, the milk, and the vanilla syrup!
We serve only organic coffees, the majority of them are fair trade. Every now and then our roasters come across a fabulous organic coffee that is not from a certified fair trade farm so we get it anyway. Most of these farms follow fair trade practices, they are just not certified.
We have four different Chai choices, two of them a loose leaf unsweetened and then our own house chai, a spicy vanilla chai made with lots of fresh ginger and real vanilla beans. Our remaining teas are somewhere in the vicinity of thirty different types of tea. All of our teas are loose-leaf teas that are bagged individually when ordered. So custom blends are easy.
We offer black teas, green teas, white teas, red teas, and herbal teas with a few organic and fair trade options thrown in.
Milk options: whole, fat free, two percent, organic whole milk, organic soy, almond, or rice milk.
The café opens at 6:30 each morning with fresh baked arrivals from our off site kitchen. Linnaea’s legendary coffee cake is always available, while the Morning glory muffin with a cup of freshly brewed, organic, fair trade coffee nourishes the soul as well as the body.
Delicate scones, fruit filled muffins, vegan blackberry bran muffins, the best waffles you have ever tasted, rice pudding, apple cinnamon oatmeal, granola parfaits, “espresso eggs” and savory breakfast burritos fill out the simple yet satisfying menu.
Monday through Friday we prepare and serve lunch using fresh, and as-local-as-possible ingredients.
We like to view it kind of like “going home for dinner… what ever mom made is what there is to eat”. One day it might be eggplant parmesan, another day could be spinach feta quiche, cheese enchiladas or perhaps polenta with ratatouille. The entrée is always vegetarian and always different.
Along with the entrée there is a choice of two salads, a daily soup, and a “SLOroll”: our closest thing to a sandwich.
Each day we make sure there is at least one vegan and one gluten free option.
Dinner being served at Linnaea’s started very organically (like so many other things at Linnaea’s). It was a quiet Monday night and Ryan and Jason were looking for something to do. Wouldn’t you know it there was left over waffle batter. So… out came the waffle iron, the whipped cream, a few bananas, a jar of Nutella and lo and behold waffle night was born! Years later it is still our most popular evening meal.
Wow, where to begin. Well, with the Carrot Cake of course! People travel hundreds of miles for our carrot cake, local bakers have taken it apart and scrutinized it trying to copy the recipe. There-is- no- topping it. Hands down it is the best carrot cake you will ever eat!
Hard on the heels of the carrot cake are the many flavors of vegan cakes, cheesecakes, multi-layer cakes, gluten free cakes, cupcakes, and fruit pies. Try the apple pie in the Fall. We get the apples from Gopher Glen in See Canyon and my oh my what a pie.
Then there are the numerous cookie and bar options, way too many to mention but a good portion of them are gluten free or vegan and often sometimes both. Current favorites are the raspberry rhubarb oat square, the gluten free brownies and the best seller by far, the chocolate chip oatmeal cookie.
There is always something new coming out of the kitchen.
